How can I make the sides of a cake look like bark? The top needs to look like the rings of a tree.
If you are needing something less involved, I made a tree stump cake and just put chocolate ganache on fairly thick and dragged the end of the spatula through it for the bark. For the rings I piped different shades of brown/ivory buttercream and then used a Viva paper towel to smooth it out and press it together. Hope this helps!

Cute cake, nicely done.
I made one using fondant ! It was actually one of my first cakes with fondant! I put the fondant on the cake and then with a sculpting tool made the grooves and bark! The rings I used the alcohol/ color method and painted the rings! I used different circle cutters to make the original sizing marks!!
