Greetings All,

A friend of mine wants me to make a "WOW Factor" cake for her birthday in February.

I thought that since her nickname is squirrel I would make a squirrel cake. But I am unable to find a squirrel shaped cake pan.

I saw instructions at Wilton.com for a 3D squirrel cake made from a mini-bear pan. But I've never done a 3D cake before and am a little scared that it will be a disaster. I really want this cake to turn out.

Has anyone seen a squirrel shaped pan or know where I can purchase one? I would prefer a sheet-cake style pan. If I have to I will go with a 3D one, but only as a last resort.

TIA!
Roger

I have done several of the 3D stand up bear cakes. They are really easy to do. You can use either size of the bear pan to make the squirrel. Add one box of instant pudding to your cake mix unless you want to use a pound cake. Grease the pan well and will it up close to the top. Place on a cookie sheet for the spill over. I like to make sure that it is going to be completely full. It takes longer to bake than instructed. If you place it on another cake, be sure to place the bear cake on a small board and support it. It is heavy when you are finished decorating.

Oops. Just re-read my message. I meant to say Grease the pan well and fill it up close to the top. I guess I better get some sleep.
