You're not alone, Rae - I'll be hitting the road with you!
I took a year off due to CC burnout and health issues but was happy to be back, and to help Jackie/Heath and the new mods.
I'm really upset reading all the hate threads started directed towards us "new" mods. I wish - I mean I really wish - I could post the threads that are in the Mod forums and the PMs that have been going behind the scenes about all this stuff.
There are no written rules anywhere for us to follow about what is and is not allowed. What recently changed? An old mod popped back on after being gone for a very long time. She moved all the threads in the Events forum going back 2 years, overruled calls we newbies made, told us a bunch of "rules" we were supposed to be following, then told us we were wrong when we followed them. Posts I made were edited, posts Eva made were edited, infractions and warnings were sent to people that didn't deserve them, mod calls both Eva and I made were altered to be more severe... The list goes on and on.
We are working on it.
I have been PMing Jackie and Heath trying to get the Events situation changed since this is a policy that hasn't been enforced since at least 2009 and I didn't even know about it in the first place - why on earth that forum was chosen to be scrubbed by the old mod is completely beyond me except to make us new mods look like jerks since we are the faces of "The Mods". The stuff was incorrectly moved into "private holding" - an area we newbies didn't even know about until that mod decided to move them - then we got scolded by that person for not doing our jobs. For the record, I immediately PMed everyone in the higher ups asking for an explanation, complaining about the policy and saying it's antiquated, needs to be changed ASAP and asking for those events to be re-instated, especially since this is a rule that apparently hasn't been enforced very well since 2009 (maybe even more 0 that's as far back as I went) - which is way before my time. As Jackie said, the policy is being worked on.
I'm not one to point fingers but the fact that I use my real name, I run a real business and everyone knows who I am is forcing me to attempt to save some face here because others don't use their real names so they are not effected by the mod decisions they make - and for all intents and purposes, are ghosts.
Now, I may suck at this or people may not like this or that, but I'll take my lumps on stuff I did while winging it - not on the stuff done by others with malicious intent against us newbies simply for being chosen as replacements.
I ask that all of you understand there is a learning curve and mass confusion that we are really, really trying to figure out. I have already chucked the "rules" sent to me by the old mod and am doing stuff the way I was before in hopes that I'm being as fair as possible while still watching out for the interests of CC. It's the best I can do.
However, from ScratchSF has been openly hostile and negative - and believes if it weren't for me - everything with the new system
and the old members would be fine. Well now, she has her way.
P.S. FromScratchSF - there was no need to monitor the Events forum previously as "fee based events were allowed" - the forum description has only recently been changed to NOT ALLOW fees based events (no longer than a year). I edited the forum all the way back to 2009 to comply with the new guidelines. (But you're not one to let facts deter your hostility.)
Just an observation:
I find that the very idea that a moderator would refer to herself (with some pride apparently) as a "Hall Monitor" is all too telling a sign of what that moderator thinks of those with whom she deals in her capacity as moderator. That this is apparently not only OK with the owners of this site, but appears to be an attitude that the owners are willing to defend by locking threads and assigning warnings, is telling of what the site's owners think of those who frequent this site.

It's just a joke. If I was a moderator I'd call myself "drama buster."

And I would be the "cake police".
There's nothing wrong with locking threads and assigning warnings when there are off-topic posts and personal attacks, what I don't agree with is when people are having a real, civilized discussion in a thread and a mod comments on the discussion followed by an immediate lock so no one else can reply.
AEek, now everything thinks its personal.
You're all equally crappy mods so kiss and make up, get Jackie and Heath to write a rule book, and stop throwing your toys out of the pram. Not keen on the old vs new divide!
I'm so sorry to see so many old timers leaving CC. I have grown to know and appreciate so many, personality quirks and all. I have gained so much from knowledge freely shared by you all. Misspellings, heck--who cares. Without actual face to face communication, misinterpretations can, and do, happen. So lighten up and enjoy the possibilities this forum affords. I am, along with Bluehue, holding streamers and balloons to welcome you back.
Well, Rae, I'm another one who's saying "PLEASE DON'T GO!" I've totally enjoyed your postings for several years now and learned more than a little from you. I love CC so much that I get butterflies in my stomach every time something like this comes up. I hope Jackie, Heath and all the moderators can find a set of guidelines (and publish them on the site) that will keep us all on the same page. I'm pretty sure we all agree that freedom of speech is an important part of our lives, that personal attacks should be off limits and that nobody should be allowed to use this as a platform to sell stuff. Other than that, we should be able to make any comments we see fit to.
