Cookie Question!

AI know this sounds like a stupid question! But I need to know. Is there a standard thickness for Sugar Cookies and Chocolate chip Cookies? In meijer and Kroger, sugar cookies are thicker, but the other decorated sugar cookies I have seen on the internet are not that thick,

Commercial establishments may have their standard thickness and most recipes I think say to roll out to a 1/4-inch thickness, but it's really just personal preference.
