You can do cupcakes cakes several ways. One of them is putting the cupcake papers in a pan, such as a round, filling them and then baking them in the pan. The tops will usually cook together, but will still be able to be easily pulled apart.

The other way is by baking your cupcakes individually and placing them together on your cake board. You can place then in any shape that you want, the key is putting your cupcakes as close to possible as you can. I usually glue the cupcake to the board with a dab of icing.

Ice the tops as you normally would and decorate.

I usually charge $25-$30 for 24 (or what ever one mix makes me). You don't have the sides of cakes to ice, but you still have the cost of the cupcake liners.

My Wilton instructor says it works best if you use the foil liners-they don't collapse when they're full of batter.

I just sent a cupcake cake to school for my daughters birthday. I just lined mine up to look like a rainbow. Then I used to largest tip from wilton and their spray colors. It was a big hit! Very simple.

I make the cupcakes alot!! I love them and they are such a quick and easy way to do it-especially at an office function or kids party. You can do BCT, edible images-pretty much anything you would do on a "regular" cake. I bake mine in a cupcake pan with liners. Kids are notorius for touching everything and this way if they grab one then want a different one at least their fingers aren't all over someone elses piece. Use Dawns tutorial-its very easy to understand and follow. She was a great teacher!

I have only made one cupcake cake, but it was a lot easier to serve and I could still decorate it quicker than individual cupcakes. Thanks for the tutorial site.
