I think that people (outside of the cake creator's) don't have a clue as to what exactly goes into decorating cakes. The time alone is unbelievable. If we got paid hourly, we'd all be on the Fortune 500 list! Geez! These people have got to learn that this is an art. Course, they know that already, don't they now? Otherwise, they'd be going to Safeway and getting a pre-made cake! But, if they can find a way to take advantage...they will.

I made a cake last weekend and just found out that the girl that ordered the cake, took credit for MY cake! Imagine that? Well, what is funny is that I heard people were going to order cakes from her. Won't that be interesting if she approaches me and asks for a cake? I will be too booked....forever! LOL!!!!

I just don't get people!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!

cakesunleashed,
holy cow, taking credit for your cake is one thing, but getting orders? wow that was very nervy of her. although what a business racket, order a cake for you and pay a certain amount, then turn around and sell it as her own for a jacked up price. wow, that takes balls. If she calls back with an order, I'd say "I heard you were a cake decorator...why would you need to order from me?" icon_biggrin.gif

Trudi, I was cheering for you all the way when I read your last post. The nerve of that woman! I was sitting there thinking, did anyone else notice that her second order was for MORE people, and she paid you LESS than the first cake cost? LOL! It's one thing if she misunderstood, I can at least understand where you let it slide the first time because you thought the person really misunderstood the pricing. But you explained the misunderstanding to her, and then she KNEW the pricing was more then she sent a note ordering a cake with less money! LOL! And it was for a bigger cake! LOL! icon_rolleyes.gif You did awesome standing up for yourself. You've gotten some great advice.

From one Trudi to another, I have to say.........OMG!!! Does this woman not realise that your work rates highly in the contests we have on here?! I can't believe those gorgeous angel cakes that I voted for were given away (and they had to be at that price!), for $10 and then the cow only gave you $5 each!!!!!!! What planet is she from - Planet Stupid???

Next order you get, direct her to the nearest bakery and see if she can get great work like yours for such ridiculously low prices! Ugh....people like that make my blood boil. I personally would tell her to shove it where the sun don't shine!

(((Hugs)))

You could always send her a note back saying thanks for the $50 deposit, and the balance of $xx will be due no later than 2 days prior to pickup! thumbs_up.gif See what a taste of her own medicine does for her!
