How do I use my Defy Thermofan to produce the best cakes? I have been baking for years but have not used a thermofan oven. Any tips will be highly valued

In Canada & the USA we call it a convection oven. I have had one for many years and have never been happy with a cake baked in it. I use my regular oven setting for cakes.
