I have been asked to make this cake for an upcoming wedding. I was wondering how I would recreate the swirl pattern on this cake.

I,ve seen this cake before and same question. I do believe it is free handed?? hope someone else tunes in.

I think I read somewhere that it's freehanded, painted.

It looks free handed and it seems that it was made by painting with black food coloring on the fondant.

It says right there that it was painted. Not sure what else the OP needs to know. Maybe how to transfer the swirls to the cake if she doesn't know how to freehand it?

Well darn if it doesn,t Looks like you are the only one that read . ha!! I just knew i had seen the cake pic before and same question. So, yes, it is freehanded painted. lol!!!!

I was going to also say, it says right there

"black swirl wedding cake

3 tiere fondant cake, with hand painted black swirls, black fondant ribbon and a single red rose."
