what size cake pan do I need to carve a number 2 for a birthday cake? I want it to be a decent size to feed 30 people. the sketches here show how to carve using a 6 inch round and 6 inch square, but I think that is too small. Any ideas?
I would try either a 18in or 20in, if your feeding 30ppl
Actually, I'd usually bake a quarter sheet cake (9 by 13 inches) and do a buttercream transfer or fondant cut-out of the number. This way, there's enough cake to go around AND none of it is wasted.
