Hello everybody ![]()
I have an order for a Care Bear character cake (my neice
). Her mother wants a cake to feed 20-30 people. I was thinking of baking the character cake and setting it on top of a sheet cake.
My question to you wonderful ladies is, How does one ice a character cake placed atop a sheet cake?
Do I ice the character cake FIRST then place it on an already iced sheet cake,
or
Do I place the uniced character cake atop an uniced sheet cake and THEN ice both cakes
or
Do I place an uniced character cake on an ICED sheet cake, THEN ice the character cake
Any help will be appreciated. My search didnt yield any results.
First, when you say sheet cake, what size do you mean? as a sheet cake alone will feed 20-30 people..
Second, for most tiering I would ice then place, but with something that I would have to worry much more about finger prints and such, I think I would ice the bottom cake first (but not do borders or anything - just the icing) and then do the character cake.... but it could go either order really.

Thanks for the responses!!!!! I think I'll ice the sheet cake, place the uniced character cake atop the sheet cake, and decorate from there ![]()
I have decorated both seperately ...taking the sheet cake puttinto the fridge to allow fro quick crusting. after crusting I place the decorated character cake carefully on top using spatula. any blemish on the sides of character cake of top of csheet cake can be covered with a piped border. and or the viva paper towel method.
