I need to make a stand up Garfield cake and I know a dense cake or pound cake is recommended.

Has anyone made a stand up cake using a cake mix or can you recommend a recipe that works well for this type of cake?

TIA!

South la! I went to high school in Lafayette! Nice to finally see someone else from Louisiana on here!

Not sure how much help I'll be as I have yet to carve a cake(that's close to the top of my "things to try" list), but I can't think of any reason WASC wouldn't work.

Good luck! I'd love to see a pic when you're done! thumbs_up.gif

Hi Manddi,

What a coincidence - I live in Lafayette.

I'm not carving it - I have a stand up Garfield pan that I'm using. I made a trial run and used the butter recipe golden by Duncan Hines and it worked fine. I need to make it chocolate for the wedding so I'll try to get some input from somebody on that.

I have used the Durable Cake for 3D recipe on here with success. also used chocolate mix and pudding with chocolate milk instead of water with good results.
