I just received an order a cake for Thursday. It is for a birthday cake for a guy and they want an Hawaiian theme. It should serve about 40 people. I thought I saw a 3-d pineapple cake that might be a good choice. Anybody have any ideas for the cake? I don't want it too feminine> Any and all ideas welcome.
Does it have to be a decorated cake. I have made a "better than sex" cake which is extremely good. It consists of the rectangular cake (butter recipe) then you layer on crushed pineapple, vanilla pudding on top of that, sliced banans on top of that, whipped cream, cocunut and pecans. It is really delicious. it's fool proof and the flavors are all tropical. I made this cake for my son's hawaiian themed party and it was a hit.
How about a beach ? Half the cake like sand, half like the ocean. palm trees in the sand, maybe a shark fin, people swimming or surfing in the water.

Just wanted to throw in that what kind of cake you do depends on how much they are paying you. I would not go crazy and do a 3-d pineapple if you are only getting $30-$40 for example.
