I want to make Michelle foster's fondant, and it calls for unflavored gelatin. I want to buy in bulk to save money. Is there a brand that people recommend? I've also noticed that there is beef gelatin and pork gelatin. Is one better than another?

The two brands I use are Knox and Great Lakes (sold at http://www.cakeconnection.com/catalog.php ) The Great Lakes is clearer than the Knox but not by much.

I saw the Great Lakes brand on Amazon, and that was what I was leaning toward. But some of the reviews said the powder smells. Have you ever had that problem?

I use Great Lakes and have never had any trouble or smell when making my MFF. It never fails to turn out delicious. (Just love that MFF recipe!) I am able to find it locally at a local health food store.
