hi if you google image 80s theme cakes lots of ideas come up.but you could do a pac man cake or a rubik cube good look

A boombox could be good too, and you could have tapes of 80's hair bands or pop singers.

To me the 80's were bright colors, loud music, big hair and to much makeup . Now I want to do an 80's cake.
