Looks like the baker couldn't do the ordered cake and went to sam's club to save her butt.....
Oh absolutely! Sam's Club/big box quickie cake for sure! That's sad. I'm sick of people like this making a mockery out of this profession. ![]()
This definitely looks like a grocery store cake. I'm so sorry for your friend!! I hope she gets a proper refund. ![]()
Not only did it have half (at best) the amount of servings she asked for, but it looked nothing like the picture of the cake she wanted!! Unbelievable. Like others have said, post pictures and the story of what happened on Yelp, Facebook, everywhere you can!
Is this post a joke? I call bull. I mean, it sounds a bit suspect. Sorry if it's not, but it seems like someone spending $250 on a cake might check out the baker's work first... It's not even like a real baker just did a bad job, it's clearly a grocery store cake.

It's certainly possible the bakery's web site had pictures of great-looking cakes, so other than checking online reviews I'm not sure what else a customer can really do in terms of due diligence.
My gut feeling is the baker either forgot the order or had an emergency and rather than calling her customer she took a shot at getting a grocery store cake and cupcakes. If I could find the store that produces that exact cake, then I would pursue the baker again about another refund...sans the cost of the grocery store cake.
If, on the other hand if this baker makes a practice of passing off these kinds of cakes and pocketing the profits, then she needs to be called on it and stopped via big time word of mouth and social media.
If the OP's friend bought a cake solely off the basis of a facebook page or website, then she has learned an expensive and valuable lesson. Anyone can post a picture of a cake...doesn't mean they made it
Oh, I agree, the Hello Kitty image is clearly applied on top of the cake. Parts of it overlap on top of the piped blue boarder. Cheezy!!
unfortunately it wasnt a joke..sad to say this lady really took advantage that my friend needed to order a cake for her daughters special bday ...but anyways update on this is that my friend went on fb and she commented on her page saying how much she got ripped off and while the cake didnt taste bad it wasnt narly close to what she ordered... and of course the lady took down the comment and told my friend she would give her all off her money back but never again would make cakes for her..and of course my friend wouldnt take a chance on her again ....I was going thru her cake pics and while I noticed her tier cakes are nice oddly all of her tier cakes look to be 1layer and the images all look plasticy like the grocery bought ones ..hmm ...but my friend posted this pic on her page and warned others in her town....
Make sure she posts a review on an independent web site like Yelp.com as well.

unfortunately not a joke..and my friend paid the 250.00 a week in advance because that is how the baker's policy was..and well when she delivered the cake my friend was busy setting up for the party so her cousin received the cake and he didnt know what it was suppose to look like so he took it in put it in the fridge and then told me friend her cake was there...my friend told me she opened the box and assumed the lady deivered someone elses cake so she called her and called no answer and finally the lady called and asked if there was a problem and of course my friend went on about how this was not the cake she payed for ..and all she got was thats the closest I could mke to the pic... and my friend told her this was not going to feed 100ppl or worth 250.00 and the lady said she would speak to her the next day because she was busy ..... thats when my friend called me ... but anyways point it all of this bakers sheet cakes look grocery bought ....also she said she ended up not using fondant because the weather was too hot ??? .....my friend never said only if the weather was hot she wanted fondant ...luckily she got a refund but it was just a disaster especiall cause her daughter was expecting the other cake she has picked the cake out herself
definately will be posting a review on there... I wonder if she has a account on here hmm ..I meant to say all of her sheet cakes look like they are 1layer ...
