I used to use silicone to make my Whisk Full of Kisses, and personally I would never use them for cake or other batters. They are really flimsy, at least the ones I had, whereas the aluminum ones hold their shape, and I place mine in the fridge for an hour when whipping small items from the fridge to help them whip faster. Works great. I have 7 different sizes of metal whisks.
