I am making a shoe box cake.
I have seen in sugarshacks photos that she put the box top pieces together with candy melts. I have some of antonia's royal icing from some cookes and I am wondering if that would be strong enough to hold the box pieces together.. my first thought is that it is, but if anybody has used this on anything other than cookies, please help.
also, on royal icing do I need to rebeat when I am getting ready to use it again?
TIA
Depending on how much you've got it thinned down, it may or may not work... to maintain the structure of the shoebox lid, you're going to want to have something that's fairly thick and dries really hard, so it depends how much you've thinned it. You could always do a little test...
and yes, you will need to mix it up really well again before you use RI... it separates when you store it ![]()
HTH,
Jill
thank you jill! it is the thick consistency that I have stored so I think I will be fine there. I was wondering more about the dries hard part. I guess I will try.. wont hurt LOL
it'll dry pretty hard, just make sure not to play with it or move it around at all for a long time... i've made the mistake of trying to fiddle with things to see if they're dry enough, and generally they're not and i screw up my project! ![]()
so try to make sure to give it PLENTY of time to set up and you should be okay ![]()
ok, i have until Sunday (so saturday) I been drying the panels since Sunday. i will attempt today and PRAY! LOL
