What is your favorite buttercream recipe? I'm making a cake today and I don't love the recipe I have. Thanks.

I use the Wilton recipe but use the butter flavored Crisco in place of regular! It turns out really smooth and creamy!

Got this from my WMI, for chocolate BC... it is really good... I have a couple of pics in my photos having used it.

make the wilton bc recipe, I use 1/2 shortening 1/2 butter... do alleviate the crisco taste... then melt 2 chunks of semi-sweet chocolate in the microwave and stir it into your icing... it makes a nice buttery chocolate icing without being too rich and I have NEVER had any complaints on it.. I also melt it in the micro a little if gets hards, or to soften it as a filling! Good luck!

So what recipe do you use for a white buttercream? I use the Wilton recipe and love it. It's not to surgary, but it's not the bright white color.

For my white BC I use the Wilton receipe but I use a combination of butter, white crisco and hi-ratio shortening!

I use 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup shortening, 3 cups icing sugar, 1 cup cocoa powder and a few splashes of milk, that makes it turn out creamy and smooth.
