Smbc And Crusting Buttercream Question

OK, so I like the SMBC and also the buttercream but have never experimented. I went to Toba Garrett's class and learned Amaretto/Mocha SMBC - but would like to make my buttercream taste similar because I don't believe I can make flowers with the SMBC??
Do I just add the same ratio of amaretto and coffee to the buttercream to make the same flavor? OR, can I just add more powdered sugar to the SMBC to pipe flowers???
What you'd have to watch is the quantity of liquids being added to the buttercream recipe, only b/c it's going to make it a softer texture.
I would try replacing any liquid in the original buttercream recipe with the same RATIO of amaretto to coffee that is used in the SMBC recipe you got. At least that will give you a starting point.
But SMBC is not nearly as sweet as basic buttercreams so I'm not sure how that would translate exactly, the overall flavor will still be different than the flavored SMBC.
Looks like an experiment! Maybe make a big batch and split it in to four mini batches and figure out the flavoring with those?
That's a great idea to make a big batch and split to experiment! Thanks so much! I've also read to substitute amaretto for the vanilla in a buttercream recipe to make it amaretto.
