I just made a batch of decorated cupcakes to take to an event. I made the actual cake part a few days ago and froze them. I let them thaw this morning and just finished decorating them. Now the event is cancelled and I have 2 dozen cupcakes ready to be eaten. Can I freeze them again?

I guess you could.
Personally, I have a "1 freeze" rule. If something is to be frozen after decorating, I don't freeze it at any other time in the process. I developed this after having a 2X frozen cake and feeling that it was too mushy & sticky for my tastes.
Could you remove and re-use any of the decos and just re-bake the cupcakes closer to the event?
