...I looked in my Mom's old cookbook. She evidently kept track some years of how many cookies she made at Christmas--i.e. how many dozen of each kind. 1998 totaled 1,816 cookies, yikes! I think I'll need to keep track this year and see how many I churn out just out of curiosity now. Anybody else track how many they make?

That is a lot of cookies! I've never kept track either, but it's a fun idea. Your mom must have had a lot of family and friends!

I usually keep track of how many DECORATED sugar cut-out cookies I make each year. Usually between 1000 and 1200, and I always run short!! Big family!! I love Christmas cookies!!

I did 150 dozen decorated sugar cookies for Christmas so that's 1800. Loved every minute though!

I work full time so cookies are my hobby. For some crazy reason it relaxes me. I feel like I've accomplished something good!

I've never kept track either, so I just did the math. I do about 75 doz cookies during Christmas, for a total of 900 cookies. Now thats a lot of work, but now I am doubling the work to hit 1,800 and I am in awe of your mother. Hats off to her!

The most I have ever made & decorated was when my brother (11years younger) was in kindergarden. Somehow my mom "volunteered" me to make christmas cookies, not just for his class but for the entire elementary school (k-6th graded). All I remember is that it was over 200 dozen for all the kids & staff, each decorated with a poinsettia. I don't think my mom & I have eaten a sugar cooke since! Luckily she helped with the baking while I decorated.

I always keep track of what I make in my Christmas notebook, both what kinds, how many dozens, what worked, what didn't, that sort of thing. I typically do about 100-110 dozen every Christmas of about 5 or 6 kinds of cookies. Always do the same 3 or 4 and then mix up the others and try new ones. Don't do 100 doz. decorated cookies, though. That would kill me.

Each year my sister and I get together and do about 100 doz. in one day, but they are just the ball kind, we make up the batches of cookie dough, 5 or so different kind, scoop the balls on to cookie sheets for flash freezing, then transfer to zip top bags, we always did it so we had cookies ready to go whenever one of our kids came home and told us they volunteered us to bring in something for that holiday party. It was easy to pull out a couple dozen, defrost on the cookie sheet as the oven is pre-heating.

However I have never done that many sugar cookies, cut and decorated, WOW.
