I love the taste of the MMF fondant but find that it dries really quick and also cracks. I thought I read something about adding an ingredient to make it more elastic. Any ideas? If there is an extra ingredient, how much of it do you add to the standard recipe found on this website...thanks so much!

I asked around, including my aunt and a few bakeries here they said to use 1 TBSP of Crisco to the recipe and it would aid in the pliability of the fondant.

I am sure this recipe is around already but this is the one my aunt uses and adds the crisco to... (A good tip is to grease your hands AND THE BOWL before you mix the mmf with Crisco.)

16 oz white marshmallows
2 tbsp water
1 to 1 1/2 lbs Powdered Sugar (approx. 4-6 Cups)
Melt marshmallows and water in a double boiler or microwave. Heat until melted. Place half of the sugar in a bowl. Make a well in the middle. Pour melted marshmallow in and mix. Add remaining sugar and continue as for basic fondant.

I knead in about 2-3Tlb of Crisco. When I mold something I put a little bit on my hands too.

Great question. Isn't there something you add to gumpaste for this purpose? Maybe that might be something to look at. I'd love to know too. The MMF seems unpredictable so far. At least with me.

Haven't had any problems with it yet. I do not use any cornstarch. I grease the clean countertop with crisco. I butter my hands before and during kneading.
