Have you searched win barrel cakes both in the gallery and the forums? I know I've posted sizes before for the one in my photos, but I don't have time to look it up right now. I think it was five or six cakes stacked (with a board in between) with graduated sizes and minimal carving. It's fairly simple to make. Mine used chocolate frosting, airbrushed for the wood effect, and candy clay that I colored black for the hoops.
I'm pretty sure I got the design from another cake on this board, but if you search you'll see literally hundreds of barrels.
