Inserting Wires Into Dummy Cake

I have a question. The same theory applies to the cake dummy I'm making for mini classes. What can I use that will go into the fondant, styrofoam and be flush with the top of the cake? The flower pics I bought from a craft store are big, bulky on top and would never go in flush.

If it is a dummy/styrofoam cake, you can just insert the wires directly into the "cake", the only reason not to insert wires directly is that they are not food safe.

Thank you for responding and I thought the same way too but we were told that the rules for real cakes apply to dummy cakes. I'm not sure if I mentioned this is for a cake contest. Any ideas?

Coffee stirrer or dip the wire in candy melts to coat.
