Im shopping around for a edible printing machine, I dont know anyone who has one so am hoping someone on cake central can recommend a specific make that is reliable. Thank you x
Hi,
You can checkout Icing Images, she is a member on here too. www.icingimages,com, Maybe you can start there
Thank you so much for your reply I will be sure to check it out. Also, there was a christian message with your reply. Its one of my favourites
If you go to inkedibles.com they have a cannon 3600 photo printer for about $150. I found the same one on amazon for $75 brand new. I just ordered my ink cartrideges from ink edibles and I absolutely love it. You can also get wafer paper from there also. Hope this helps out!
All edible inks aren't made equally. I highly recommend icingimages for ink (gold label inks) and frosting sheets (premium sheets). I've used several brands and theirs are the best in my opinion.
I just bought a Canon MG5220 for $65 at Walmart and edible inks and paper from icingimages.com. I'm VERY happy with how nice the photos turned out! I printed out my first photos today and they look just like regular photos, but with a matte finish!! I totally recommend icing images!
Tiggy2 is exactly right, I would go with icingimages.com all the way. If you choose to buy a printer on sale somewhere (I have the Canon IP3600 and I love it) realize that the EI cartridges will void your warranty. The full price printers from icingimages are warrantied by them.
Thank you so much everyone, I love cakecentral and the help and advice you can recieve from it, I would be stuck without it! You have given me food for thought on the subject, when your spending lots of money you cant afford to get it wrong! lol x
Thanks for the feedback on our products Jackie. As for printers to use for edible ink, note that the price of Canon printers has been fluctuating quite a bit in the last few months as supply has been affected through Canon, but any printer under $100 is a great price for just the printer, usually they are around $150 or more just for the printer. But as some pointed out, Walmart did have a real good deal for a while on a couple of Canon models. Wherever you buy your printer - remember to always dedicate a printer for edible inkjet printing, do not use a printer that you also use for regular ink printing, so that you don't contaminate the edible ink.
Canon MG 5220, and definately use Icing Images. I only deal with them.
They give you great support. I just had a minor problem with mine and they talked me through it and everything worked out fine.
They are very friendly and their products are the best.
Check Wal-Mart online. That's where I bought mine in January and only paid $60.00.
WeezyS, I have the same printer and love it! I had a problem though when I refilled one of my cartidges. It wouldn't recognize it and my printer was completely out of comission. I had to order a new one. I notice on the directions for the refills it says "Chip will only reset when the message for ink being out appears". I'm thinking I need to wait for this message before refilling. Have you had any issues like this? Thanks!
Hi Lisa,
I haven't refilled yet, so really haven't had any real issues to deal with yet. But thanks for the infor and if it happens I'll know what to do.
I have the Canon MG5300 series and use ink4cake inks. for some reason my pictures come out with the brown and yellow tones instead of the regular picture.
Am I doing something wrong ?
Looks like your cyan printhead is either clogged or dead. Assuming you're not simply out of cyan ink.
Maybe the cyan cartridge is defective, or not seated properly. Assuming the printheads are part of the printer, and not part of the cartridges, perhaps the cyan printhead is defective. At any rate, it probably needs to be looked at by someone more experienced (and if you have to go with someone who's not an edible printing specialist, then they need to know what's what (including the first two rules of edible printing: 1. you do NOT put non-edible inks into a printer to be used for edible printing, and 2. you do NOT put non-edible inks into a printer to be used for edible printing*).

*And you still don't talk about Fight Club.
First run a nozzle check and then a cleaning cycle. Do another nozzle check and see if there is improvement. If there is, but it's not quite right, then try one more cleaning cycle. Hopefully it will straighten out. If not email me at [email protected] and I will email a more extensive method to get your ink running.

Judging from the fact that she hasn't responded to "TastyFotoArt," "icingimages," or me, and hasn't been heard from in over 3 weeks (and her profile says she hasn't even signed on to CC in over 2 weeks), I suspect that "GigiSweets" hasn't seen anybody's responses, and wouldn't receive any PMs we might send (although I sent her one anyway, hoping that she has email notification of pending PMs).
