Some pictures of cakes with fondant look shiny. How can I get my fondant to look shiny? Is there something I should add or paint on there? icon_lol.gif

You can brush them with shortening or carefully use a hair dryer (one that's used only for cakes, of course) or heat lamp to bring out the shine. Some people use a spray-on coating but IMO that's like putting wood varnish on. icon_smile.gif

Some people also use a steamer.

Thanks. I ended up using a little shortening and it looked great! Where would I buy a steamer? icon_wink.gif

Sorry I never responded. I'm not exatly sure. Just anywhere they sell small clothes steamers. Looks like you can get some compact ones for $20-$25 on amazon. com.
