Just wondering if any of you have used "glass" cake plateaus. I have a bride that wants a glass stand. I don't have a lot of stands and usually rent one and pass the cost along. My rental place doesn't carry any unless I use a mirror?????
is this just for under the base cake or are you wanting them between tiers too. Hobby Lobby sells very heavy thick table top glass that is suitable to put a cake on. You can also use glass block or glasss candle stick holders to raise it off the table, looks very nice, especially if you use little lights underneath.
If it is to elevate the tiers a few people have responded in the forums that they use glasses or ice cream bowls and silicone to adhere them to the plate. I saw some really neat ones in the gallery.
Oh, there was one where the designer (sorry, don't know it off the top of my head) had round glass discs made and used champagne glasses with the silicone to adhere them. In the glasses I believe she put decorative ribbon (curling ribbon?) in them.
It really gave a nice appearance in the photo.
Oh, and there is a firm that manufacturers acrylic ones on ebay - some are even lit with small fairy lights. I think I entered cake stands in the search field. They were from the UK I believe. Very nice stands...
Hope this helps. ![]()
