Strawberry Champagne Cupcakes. . .can I Sub Water??

I want to take my basic WASC recipe and sub the water for Champagne. . .will this work?? I usually don't change out the liquids. . does it matter as long as the same amount of liquid goes into the cake or does the water do something the Champagne will not??
