Hi
I'm wanting to know if I cover my christmas cake with Almond Icing (which I think is also known as Marzipan) and then put MMF over it, will it taste ok?

The cake I made last year I used both bought almond & rolled white icing.

Could I just flavor the MMF instead and put buttercream under it?

Thanks,
Vanessa

I have seen it with Buttercream under fondant.
But I am most used to eating it at weddings with marzipan under royal icing.
or marzipan under fondant.

I guess it's just a matter of choice.

When you say 'Christmas cake' do you mean a traditional/rich fruit cake? If you do, then I would not put buttercream on it, I would stick with the Almond icing/marzipan and fondant combo. I don't use MMF myself, but being a type of fondant I imagine it would be fine over almond icing.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes it will be a fruit cake.

I will go with the almond & MMF combo.

Cheers!
