I need to make a 120 cookie favors for my sister's wedding. I am also making the cake so I have to make the cookies as far in advance as possible.
I will be decorating them in royal icing.
How far in advance can I decorate them and individually package them without them going stale?
Can I freeze them already decorated?

I'm not sure how far in advance you can make them. I'm no cookie expert. But I wouldn't put anything decorated with RI in the freezer. The condensation when they come out would dissolve your decorations.

I made some for Valentines day last year, I used fresh whites for the Royal Icing an I packaged them in cello bags with ribbons and we gave them as favors, but there were a couple left over which I forgot about and left lying around on one of the living room tables.

I found them behind a vase in April I think it was already! They looked great. We took them out of the bag and my son, an adult insisted on tasting one and he said they were fine! LOLOL! So I think they last a looong time. I believe I got the sugar cookie recipe from here also.
Good luck!

You can freeze decorated cookies. Just package them. put them in airtight container. When you take them out of freezer, leave them in airtight container until they come to room temp. They'll be as good as new.

Good Luck
