What do you think is the best flavor icing for a pumpkin spice cake? I was thinking brown butter with maybe some cinnamon added. I would love any other suggestions. Thanks.
Brown butter is great, with some sage, also cream cheese is good too!
I just made one last weekend and I put some pumpkin pie spice in my Vanilla Buttercream -- combined with the pumpkin spice cake it was TO DIE FOR! ![]()
Brown butter is easy but delicious! Put 1 stick of unsalted butter in a small saucepan. Melt it slowly over medium heat for about 10 minutes until it is a nut brown color. Slowly pour it into a bowl and leave any burned bits behind. Then add 2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 2-3 tablespoons of milk to thin it. It worked really well for dipping the top of cupcakes!
