How much would you charge for cala lilies and hydrangeas?
I am thinking $5 per cala lily, but not sure on the hydrangeas. It takes about 25 petals to make a little bouquet.
Thanks
Dina

About how long does it take to make each type of flower?

I would estimate how long it would take to do each flower (or little bouquet), add the cost of gumpaste, and charge accordingly.

hydrangeas take FOREVER. be sure to price accordingly. Remember you have to dust all those little petals too, and wire them together, plus you have to account for breakage.

leah - I LOVE your idea. . .LOL! Question though, how do you handle it when someone asks you about them?? like, if they ask you if you made them etc? Do you just tell them you ordered them, or just tell them you did them (since I'm sure you could do them, just chose not to).

Ok, so I looked into buying the hydrangeas, and Holy cow, they are going to cost me about $100 and I haven't accounted for my markup yet.
I don't mind making the calas but the hydrangeas are going to take foreever.
So, any ideas on other filler flowers that are easier to make?

She basicaly wants a two tierd cake that are stacked with a little space in the middle, where I am going to insert the flowers. The pic she showed me had alternating roses with hydrangeas all around the cake, between the bottom and top tier.
But I will switch the roses with calas.
thanks for any input
Dina

Tell her the cost of hydrangeas and let her decide if she still wants them.
