I am doing cupcakes for a little girl and need to know (since I have forgotten) how to make little flowers to go on the cupcakes. What medium to use for this? I was thinking royal icing but don't know how to start. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

What kind of little flowers are you trying to make? If you want to pipe the flowers, you could use either buttercream or royal icing. Here's a link that might help with technique: http://www.wilton.com/decorating/browse.cfm?cat=buttercream-icing&thm=Flowers

I, personally would use buttercream for the little flowers. Use any r/i technique and just do it in buttercream right on the cupcake. You could make them in advance and then put right on the cupcake when ready .

You can also have little flowers like these: http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2195375
using fondant and a cutter

Thank you so much. I just couldn't remember. It has been years since I have used this for anything. I would usually pipe them on the cake, but I'm wanting to place something on top and I don't want them ruined. I'll probably stick with buttercream and let them dry since it's easier to use.
