Hi there! I had asked for some help with my first gumpaste attempts, and I took everyone's advice and finally think I got the hang of it. Here are two pictures...one is of a rose spray with stephanotis, and the other is a gumpaste diamond ring. The hanging the flowers upside down worked wonders. I was making the leaves too heavy before, and that is why the roses were drooping. It took literally hours to do this little bouquet, but I was thrilled to see how it worked out! Thanks again, cake central members...you guys are awesome!! Ellen
I saw your cake...it's beautiful! You should enter it in the Wilton cake contest. Your gumpaste spray looks lovely! I used gumpaste for the first time last week to make some miscellaneous items but now I'm going to try to make some flowers. Wish me luck! And again...great job!
Your rose spray and ring are lovely.
I brought the gum paste mix and the gum paste cutter set Friday...can't wait to try it out.
Your flowers and ring look lovely. The best tip I can give anyone using gumpaste is to roll it as thin as you can. This gives a realistic look to the flowers
So glad that it worked out for you!! You did a great job, very pretty! Made me feel a little closer to getting my stuff out and giving it a try!! ![]()
By all means!! Get out your stuff and try!! I did not give up on my first batch of roses. I had made 15 of them, and I had to pitch every last one because they were sliding off the toothpick and "melty" looking. I got help on this forum from other members, and then I followed the wilton gumpaste instructions, and I was pretty happy with the results. I tried the stephanotis first....they were really easy!! After those came out ok, I got my confidence back to try the roses, and they turned out! It's not as hard as it looks, just time consuming.
