I'm entering a competition soon and am currently making parts.

One part I need to make is a fishing rod, but it must be out of fondant etc, nothing artificial.

Any ideas?

Can you use a long dowel covered in fondant/ gumpaste? That would be the easiest I think or a very heavy gauge wire. The wire would be nice if you want it to bend as a rod does when there is a fish on the line. hth

You might also try a piece of uncooked spaghetti.

The fishing rods here were made with spaghetti covered with chocolate candy clay. If you need something more substantial, you could try long macaroni instead.
