IMO I would buy the gold color...but then again I don't like to rely on "making" my own colors. You can always add a little of another color, but actually making the gold from the beginning may be harder! Good luck sounds neat!!
Anytime I need gold coloured icing I normally use yellow, then paint it with gold colour afterwards but I suppose it would depend how much gold you needed
When you say parts, how do you measure if you are using paste.
Hope this doesn't sound too dumb ![]()
Hi. Parts can be any unit that you choose to measure those ingredients. For paste I have sometimes used a toothpick or tip of a knife to scoop out color paste. According to that formula I would dip and scoop with my toothpick (or knife) 10 times into the yellow. (Get a fresh pick) Then 3 times in the orange and finally 1 toothpick scoop of red. Mix them together and theoretically speaking it should be a paste that produces gold.

P.S. That doesn't sound dumb at all. Although I will be posting a few that come pretty darn close after I finish this.
Thanks so much for the information.
When I wrote that question, I really did feel like...duh, you should know.
Will this be close to the Winnie the Pooh gold? I hate to keep buying the colors made for him.
Glad to see another person from Virginia. My grandchildren live in Richmond.
