Is there a way to do the checkerboard pattern so that it is one solid peice of fondant? I don't want to cut black peice and place on because I them all level?

Cut a large square of fondant as large as your board and then place red and black squares on top of it. You will go thru more fondant but it will be level.

I used my diamond impression mat to cut out the squares in both the colors I needed then just patched them up on the board. Time consuming but it keeps it consistently the same size and all leveled.
