I need to do a bbq cake with a T-bone on the grill. I was wondering how to make fondant or gumpaste slates strong enough to hold the T-Bone but not resting on anything. I will also have burning coals underneath. Any help would be amazing. I really like how this one was done but have no idea how

I made a BBQ cake just this summer. What I did for the "slats" was use skewers painted black with food coloring. They were the only thing on the cake that wasn't edible. If you were to make them with gumpaste I would imagine they would have to be pretty thick to hold any weight. Not sure that would look very good. Everything on top of the cake will be removed before cutting anyway so it's fine if the "slats" are not edible.
