Hi, im looking at making a hot air balloon cake but want to do the hot air balloon half inflated on the cake wit the basket on it side as if it was puttin the heat into it.
What would i use to make the balloon so it would hold its shape and not fold in in the middle?

Actually I looked up some pictures of a hot air balloon being inflated and most of them actually look like a full balloon cut in half and laying on the ground....so you could probably just wad up some paper towel or saran wrap or a round thing of some sort, and take gumpaste and dry it over that to shape, and then let it dry a few days and then paint it and put it on the cake.
