Quilt On Buttercream

Does anyone have any alternative ways of quilting on buttercream without using the impression mat. My local cake decorating store is out.

A ruler or another straight object pressed into the butter cream in a diamond patter.

use a square cookie cutter in the size you want ure quilting squares to look

I have used diamond pattern paper towels after my buttercream has crusted. I lay the paper towel on and trace over the pattern with a knife or pizza cutter, etc. enough to imprint the pattern. It works for me and is very inexpensive.

Home Depot sells it in a large sheet as a cover for fluorescent lights.
