I have a beach themed wedding cake for tomorrow but, for the life of me I can not get my icing "sand" colored. Can anyone tell me what colors they mix to get the color of sand......Please!!

I would use a touch of Wilton's copper gel paste...it's what I use to make skin tone, but brown sugar makes an excellent sand.

i put vanilla wafers (yup, Nilla wafers...the staple in every southern kitchen) in the food process and pulse until I get a fine consistency. If I want darker sand, I pulse graham crackers and blend the two until I get the colour I like.

So you want to tint the actual butter cream "sand" color or make sand?

If you want to tint the icing I would use some yellow, brown and maybe a touch of red (like a drop) of gel colors.

Start with little bits of each color because it will darken as it sits.
