This cake is to be picked up in about 3 hours....the black buttercream in the "2" is cracking.....does anyone know how I might fix it? Thanks!
Dont know why I'm having so much trouble with attachment.....trying again.
I finally got it to upload to my photos (as bad as I hated to with that crack in it!
Anyway, anyone that can help me?
Buttercream will crack if the cake board is not strong enough. If the board bends even the slightest fraction, the icing will crack. Could this be your problem?
I use 1/2" foam core to prevent this.
Probably so, it cracked after I moved it.....I have double foam boards under it....I think they are each 1/8 in making it 1/4 total......do you know how to repair the buttercream?
With it right in the middle there's not a great way to fix it totally undetected...If it's cold you can put some more black on the crack and try to cover it, but it will still be visible.
