how long can I keep Homemade Buttercream Icing? And what is the best way to store it?

I have a couple cakes coming up that are do within a couple days of each other and I thought I could make the icing in advance to save time and mess's but want it to be fresh also.

I'd say if your cakes are within a few days apart there is no problem making the BC ahead of time. I keep mine in an air tight container in the fridge. I've kept and used mine within 3wks (recipe using all crisco- no butter) not sure if that would make a differance. HTH some

I don't know about other recipes, but the Extra Special Buttercream icing that I found here on CC can be frozen and still tastes delicious!
