Okay I just called my craft stores that offer the wiltons courses. ACMoores where I have been taking my course one is starting course 2 the same night Michaels is offering the new fondant & gumpaste course. I am planning on taking all of the courses but I am wondering which way I should go with my courses. Course 2 than course 3 and than the fondant course? Or should I just jump into the fondant & gumpaste course?

I have taken all 3 of the courses and I do not think it really matters what order you go in after you have taken course 1. It all depends on what you are interested in and what you really want to learn. Course 2 is all about royal icing and you make tons and tons of royal icing flowers. Not something I was real interested in so I could have done without this class. On the other hand, many people love to make flowers and really enjoy learning how to make them. But like I said, at this point, I do not think it matters what order you go in although I am not sure what the new course entails. I am not sure if you should take Course 3 first to learn the basics of fondant before taking the new fondant/gumpaste course.

Personally, I would take them in order because you will learn how to use fondant in course three. Since you'll be a little more familiar with it, the class for fondant & gumpaste will be a little easier to follow - IMHO icon_smile.gif

Well I have used ready made fondant and HATED the taste of it! But this AM I did a MMF cake and loved the taste of it! I am learning the ins and outs of everything new that I try and I also try to do some research before I do do anything new. My research is reading as much as I can from here, this site is really great to have.

The prerequisite for the F & G course is Course 1. You will learn how to work with fondant an gumpaste. Yes, C3 students will have the experience, so it will be a review for them. Wilton is trying to emphasize, that you just need to take C1 first and the others can be taken in any order--that is why it is not called C4.

It really is a matter of personal preference on which one you want to take. If you take F & G first, then the 2nd night of C3 will be "cake" for you. But if you really want to learn royal icing flowers and the basketweave more, then take C2 now.
