Nintendo - Mario / Luigi Cake - Help!

Only just registered on CC - looks like a great community!
I need to make a Mario / Luigi cake for my son's 7th birthday party (and about 20 guests) and haven't a clue where to start.
Can anyone give me any great ideas I can incorporate? Lots of Mum's / Aunts / Granparents going to be there, and I'm hoping for a few orders as a result.
Any ideas would be most appreciated. BTW, I live in UK.

If its only for 20 people is it just going to be a one tier round cake or a sheet cake?
Maybe something like this, but one tier, with mario popping up of the cake?

Make sure you get loads of mario relatived things,
Use some selected ones, mario, luigi, boxes, stars, bullets, clouds, coins, pipes, mushrooms and make them really blightly coloured in fondant so that everything stands out well. good luck!
