how would i make fringe to go around beach umbrella (would be using jem 3D beach umbrella cutter). also, wanted to make waves around the cake with a fondant wrap but can't figure out how to cut the waves. any suggestions? oh, one more thing, what's the best way to make sand?

Not sure about your other questions but for sand you can use brown sugar!

If you have a Cricut machine, they actually have a wave template that you can use. Its very handy! Yes, light brown sugar is the best version of "sand". Some people also use crushed graham crackers, but I prefer brown sugar. The brown sugar will get hard in about 20-30 mins once you put it on the cake, so be sure to have it where you want it.

Vanilla wafers make really nice sand too! Taste much better than brown sugar if you are going to be eating it along with the cake.
