Anyway To Make Store Bought Frosting Crust?

I'm making a lady bug cake and I wanted to use chocolate frosting to make the black, however that's the only thing I need chocolate frosting for. I'm using the ball pan so it's pretty small and I feel that'll be the cheapest way since I don't have any use for chocolate buttercream in the near future. Anyways is there anything I can use to make it crust to get a smooth surface?
