Can you use a crimping tool on crusting buttercream? I think they are really cool but my family prefers buttercream over fondant.
I don't think it would work very well, but I wouldn't reject the possibility until I tried it on a little sample. Spread a little buttercream on a styrofoam dummy, the edge of a cake pan or something like that, let it crust and apply the crimper. You might be surprised. Or you might know never to try that again!
Thanks for the advice. I don't own a crimper yet and didn't want to waste my money of it wouldn't work.
Naw probably wouldn't work to your satisfaction. I wouldn't waste my money or time. I guess they are called Fondant Crimpers for a reason.......
I agree with tiptop57. If you don't already have one, I'd wait till I was going to use it on fondant to invest.
