I am a beginer decorater but I have been baking since I could reach the counter. In about 2 weeks, I will be making a dump truck cake for my father in laws birthday using buttercream. Does anyone have any tips for me to make the process a little less nerve racking? All tips are greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance icon_smile.gif

Carve and frost the cake when it's frozen. Keep putting it back in as often as you need.

And really practice practice practice. Try doing it before the actual thing.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! I experimented last weekend making the actual truck out of a block of frozen rice krispie treats. Cheating I think, but I thought it might be easier for my first cake at least and then make the base actually cake. Hopefully, after this one I'll be able to skip the rice krispie and make it all from cake.
