My great-nephew's birthday is the 24th and he wants a Spiderman cake.
I showed his mom different Spiderman cakes from the gallery and she chose the one with Spiderman crawling on the city done by tracy from Houston.
Of course, they want a big discount so I decided to do a 16 sq. and do the city in fondant.
Since I'm not getting the normal $ that I would, I'm trying to cut down on the decorating.
My question is, can you use the candy melts in the Spiderman pan?
Yes, you can use candy melts inside of the pans. I used candy melts on the computer cake I made in my photos. I used it to make the stand that the monitor would sit on so it had a little bit of the 3-d effect. I have heard of others using candy melts to make face plates when the pan they got doesn't come with one or is missing one.
Good luck.
Your welcome Sheila, happy to pass on what I have learned from others. I hope to try that out soon on a pan I got off eBay that was missing the face plate.
Do you just pour the candy melts in the pan or do you have to prepare the pan first with something, also, how do you get it out of the pan without breaking?
smileyface,
I brought four bags of red candy melts, is this enough? Also, will the Spiderman come out shinny?
Hi Stephanie,
I just put the candy melts directly into the pan. I didn't put grease or anything like that in the pan. Once I put the melts into the place I wanted to copy, I put the pan in the fridge to set it up fast. Once I let the pan come back to room temperature the candy melt came out fine. It wasn't coming out like when I use the molds at first so don't be worried, it will come out once the pan it room temperature again. Also, I think if you want to let the melts set up without the fridge, it might work just as well. I plan to try that next time. I just know it is faster using the fridge/freezer with actual candy molds since you can flex them and pop them out right out of the fridge/freeze without wait for it to come back to room temp.
Are you planning to copy the entire pan or just the face? Which pan are you using?
smileyface,
I'll be doing the entire pan...crawling Spiderman.
I wanted to try something different to get away from making all those stars. ![]()
I think four bags will be more than enough to do this. It should come out shinny. I hear you about all those stars, they are a pain to do, literally!! Since you are doing the entire pan, I would cut some cardboard the size of the inside of the pan. That way once your melts set up, you can put that on the inside before you flip it out. With such a large piece, I would want to support it so it won't break when it comes out. Can't wait to see how this turns out for you! ![]()
GOOD LUCK!!
Thanks smileyface,
I had planned on doing it today but last night Igot a last minute cake order...had the nerve to call about 10:30 p.m. ![]()
I should have turned it down, she knew that she needed the cake...had the party planned!
She got a Winnie whether she wanted it or not
At times like this I feel like quitting. ![]()
